About the event
The Annual Picnic & Grape Blessing at St. Gregory Armenian Church is one of the most cherished summer traditions for the Niagara region’s Armenian community. Held on Sunday, August 16, 2026, the celebration marks the Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God (Asdvadzadzin), bringing together families, parishioners, and friends for a joyous day centered around faith, heritage, and fellowship.
The day begins with Divine Liturgy at 11:00 AM, presided over by His Grace Bishop Abgar Hovakimyan, Primate of the Armenian Church of Canada, followed immediately by the sacred Grape Blessing Ceremony. Starting at 1:00 PM, the festivities transition outdoors for the annual community picnic, featuring authentic Armenian food, a bake sale, raffle prizes, and children's activities including a bouncy castle. The outdoor celebration will be anchored by live musical entertainment from featured Toronto vocalist Mher Minasian, promising an engaging atmosphere for all ages.
